Federal Government Begs ASUU and ASUP to Suspend Strike

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu has appealed to striking university and polytechnic teachers to suspend their actions in the interest of students and their parents while the government is working to meet their demands.

The director, federal scholarships board Astha Mohammed who complained that the industrial action by Nigeria’s tertiary institutions is frustrating the country’s bilateral education agreement, handed down the minister’s appeal.
The director said the agreements involve Nigerian students going on scholarship to countries with the agreement and vice versa.

The government said over thirty thousand applications have been received for the federal government scholarship, the bilateral education agreement scholarship, the commonwealth scholarship and sustainable development goals, SDGs scholarship for females.

The Nigerian government has continued to warn that the scholarships are for brilliant but indigent students, however, a number of comfortable civil servants have abused the process by pushing their children and wards as beneficiaries’
