We (Nigerians) planned it together but they (politicians)
went behind our backs and plan theirs.
They dug a pit and covers it with golden wools,
we(masses) ran there and fell,we cried for help, "hello!, hello!!, heeelpp!
A child shouted "father!, see someone
" pointing towards the top of the pit. We all smiled and hope for way out,
"save us", "save us", then one of them shouted "be
calm, I will find a solution only if you are ready to help yourselves ",
we spoke in one voice "we are ready! ", then he said "we have
decided to get ladders that will be long enough to reach the base of the pit
and we need ropes as well, but all we needed is more money", he stopped
for a while, then he continues "so, tell us where your properties and wealth
is, so that we can add it to those available to get you out".
We all want to see our beautiful land once
more so we grant them access to all we have (agricultural products), they went
away, we hope to see them very soon, we waited for days starving and dying. "O
you people of the pit!", we looked up and saw a man with big tummy and
scary voice, then he said "we tried all effort but the money was not
enough! ". Our chief stood up and told the man that we have enough that
can buy a country not to talk of ladders and rope. The big tummy man laughed
and told the man "you don't have the idea of how big the ladder is, and it
quality ",then he said "let's sell some other things that could fetch us more money", and he said that
our black gold (crude oil) will be enough, we agreed immediately, he turned his
back, then one of us shouted "bring us food", soon, a tall man came
he threw some smelly food at us and gave us all a litre of water, he told us
that all the money have been used on ladder and that they can't afford better
food and he left.
We have no knowledge of what is happening
above so we believed him. For days, no one hears from them, some of the kids
find it difficult to open their eyes, the pit was so hot and silent like a
grave yard, no one could talk, we can't stand up again."Good morning
", a man shouted above, he smiled and said "congratulations, now we
have enough food and drinks and high quality ropes and ladders will be here
tomorrow ", he stopped for a while, i forced myself to smile, all I saw was
shadow of the man but not his real self, the light intensity above can make one
blind, we cheered and he told us that we need to choose him as a person to
fight for our right above (election) he order a man to give us nice meal, this
time, they dropped the food wisely and went away, many came as well to give us
a great threat as well. That night was great.
The next day, we deliberately on who to follow
amidst ourselves, but we don't know that the war had just begun. A man threw the
dirty plate and shouted "I won't vote for the first man", The chief
told him to be calm, then another shouted "only the last man can do it,
his family(political party) are great. Then a man came from behind and slapped
him to keep quiet "you are just a kid" he said, his father couldn't
hold his anger then stabbed the man that slapped his son with the bone he held
in the hands, the families started fighting, many of us were injured, some
died, we wept, but our tears can't revive them.
A day before the D-day(election), we agreed
to group ourselves based on individual opinion and choose so that peace can reign, but
some family(tribes), will never forget the past and carry on for good. The day
is here, we stood up as early as possible looking at the top of the pit, hoping
that they would come. It's sunny, my throat is dry, the old one's are sitting
down.then a man came,he called the names of the candidates, we cast our vote.
Now one
of the peoples favourite is in, we hope to find another nice meal and hope to get
out of the pit soon. For days, we saw nobody, then one of us shouted "Hello",
a man with a club that I can break with my teeth pretending to be a security
look down at us, we asked him about our representative and he told us that he
can never come to us again, we were shocked to hear this, "but why? " a man asked, but the
security turned his back and went away.
"Who will save us", some of the chiefs
are dead, some are very old now that they can't stand to fight for us (Awolowo, Nnamdi, A.Bello........), those that
are fit want to save their breathes and make do with little calories left in
their bodies,
"Back to square
one" a man shouted, "worst than before. Now we must survive and we are
now many, the men at the top are no where to be found.
The next morning, two strong men came, they
threw a rope at us and order the bad ones among us to climb first after which
they withdrew the rope and told us that the rope is about to cut, "you
promise to provide quality ropes and ladder, where are they" a man asked,
and they told us that rats destroyed the rope and they can never travel again
because there is a big Python by the river bank so they can't travel, that only
few are left for us(employment, power, security, food....) .
Thief! Thief!!, I was surprised, I looked
back and saw people beating a lad, pressing him so hard on the wall, the boy was so helpless,
he haven't eating since fours days, i thought that would be the first and last.
That's a lie, a girl is lying on the floor, good intentions started changing,
people only want the best for themselves, this led to aggression resulting to
crimes and killing, our goal is to survive.................................................................................
ONLY IF WE CAN COPY
THE ANT, COME TOGETHER WITH LOVE, LEAVING THE PEOPLE ABOVE, AND CLING TO ONE
ANOTHER TO MAKE A LADDER,WE WOULD HAVE LEFT THE PIT FOR SO LONG
United Arab Emirate
left the pit with just seven families making themselves a ladder in 1971, look at today, they are one of the most
successful in the world today
Nigeria is just a
name, we are the true Nigeria, Never say that Nigeria can't be better, the
cause will be on us, please pray for Nigeria
